PERRYSBURG -- Authorities say a fire at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo on Sunday was an act of arson.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal, along with Perrysburg Township Police, continue to investigate the suspicious fire which occurred early Sunday evening.

Around 5:30 p.m., Perrysburg Township firefighters received reports of smoke coming from the center, possibly in the second floor prayer room. But Det. Sgt. James Gross would not confirm the exact location of the fire, according to The Blade.

Authorities report that the center experienced significant smoke and water damage.

Investigators are asking anyone with information as to who is responsible for the fire to contact the state fire marshal at 1-800-589-2728, Perrysburg Township Police at 419-874-3551, or leave a tip online.
