TOLEDO -- Today the Toledo Zoo celebrated the 1st birthday of two tiger cubs.

The cubs, Viktor and Tayla, were actually born September 26, 2011.

Joann Jakeway, a volunteer program assistant, commented about the cubs. "The are doing well, they are getting big. Viktor is kind of an explorer…Talya has been staying around mom today." The cubs’ mother is named Marta.

The cubs received solar system themed gifts – planets filled with ribs.

"They ripped through those pretty quick," Jakeway said.

There were activities for children such as puppets and "Tic-Tac-Tiger."
