WATERVILLE, OH -- Waterville's mayor and bank administrators broke ground today on what will be the area's newest financial institution.
Mayor Lori Brodie grabbed a shovel alongside Farmer's and Merchant's State Bank administrators and broke ground on the construction phase of the new Fort to Port bank.
The 3,000 square foot Farmer's and Merchant's State Bank will be constructed in the Villages at Waterville Landing, which sits at the newly opened Route 24 bypass. The branch will be the $940 million intitution's 20th in Ohio, joining the Perrysburg location as the second in Lucas County. The full-service bank plans to staff about eight employees and intends to provide large lending limits to cater to the community.
F&M President Paul Siebenmorgem says the bank "has a small town feel with enough dollars behind us that we can provide just about anybody any financial service they need."
Construction is scheduled to be completed by March of 2013 with the grand opening shortly thereafter.
