A new study suggests letting babies cry themselves to sleep for a short period of time is healthy for both mom and baby.

Researchers from Australia followed children who were sleep trained as infants and found moms had better mental health than parents and children who had not completed a sleep training program.

The study involved 326 children who had parent-reported sleep problems at 7 months, according to Time.

The sleep training technique was implemented as a way to help get kids to fall asleep on their own.
