TOLEDO -- President Obama spent the night in Toledo Sunday night on his campaign tour ahead of accepting the accepting the Democratic nomination.

Air Force One landed at Toledo Express Airport shortly after 7:15 p.m. Sunday. The president was greeted by several local and federal politicians, notably Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Lucas County Commissioner Pete Gerken and Toledo City Councilman Joe McNamara, before being whisked away to the Hilton Toledo. There he prepared to rally supporters at Monday's UAW Labor Day Celebration at Scott High School.

President Obama stopped at Rick's City Diner on Bancroft late Monday morning to have breakfast with local auto workers. One reporter overheard Mr. Obama share the story of his first car, a Jeep. It was "bright and shiny," he told them, and the "seat was all comfortable."

The stop in Toledo is part of the Obama's "Road to Charlotte" tour of battleground states. Along the way, the President is highlighting "American Heroes" who exemplify the importance of choice in this election. He is also addressing why he feels our economy needs to be built from the middle out, not the top down.

From Toledo, the President will travel to Louisiana to visit with local officials and address recovery efforts after Hurricane Isaac.

The President's current campaign tour will end in Charlotte where he and Vice President Joe Biden are set to accept the nomination at the 46th Democratic National Convention on Thursday.
