TOLEDO -- Labor Day weekend is here. The last "unofficial" weekend of summer. The last weekend to celebrate and party one more time before we start thinking cold weather. Well if you plan on consuming alcohol during your celebrations, AAA of Northwest Ohio is here to help.
AAA of Northwest Ohio will offer it's Tipsy Tow service this weekend from 6 p.m. through 6 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
While AAA encourages party goers to designate a driver if you plan to consume alcohol, the Tipsy Tow service is available to assist you if you find yourself in an impaired situation and need to get yourself and your vehicle home safely.
"Tipsy Tow is available to help northwest Ohioans celebrate Labor Day safely while helping fulfill AAA's mission of making roads safer for everyone," said April Cochran, Vice President, Marketing and Public Affairs for AAA Northwest Ohio.
Tipsy Tow provides a one-way ride for you and your vehicle at no cost for up to 10 miles. Services will not be provided to motorists requesting a tow to another drinking establishment or to a destination other than their home.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, one alcohol-impaired death occurs every 45 minutes across the country, with alcohol impaired drivers contributing to one out of every three traffic deaths.
To take advantage of Tipsy Tow, you should:
• Call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357)
• State that you need a "Tipsy Tow."
• Provide your name, home address, phone number and vehicle location.
