TOLEDO -- Toledo Public Schools is hosting a homecoming celebration for local Olympic hero Erik Kynard Jr.

The Rogers High School (RHS) graduate and Olympic Silver medalist will be honored with a parade followed by a ceremony at RHS Football Stadium.

Festivities for Kynard will begin at 11am with a parade starting at McTigue Elementary School, 555 Nebraska Ave. RHS cheerleaders and athletes, JJ Express Drill and Drum Corp, the Toledo Horsemen’s Club, and the Harley Boyz will lead Kynard to RHS Football Stadium.

Kynard is currently a senior at Kansas State University. He is returning from his Olympic debut at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Kynard won the silver medal for the United States team in the high jump.

The homecoming celebration is free and open to the public. Due to NCAA regulations, public opportunities to take pictures with Erik or sign autographs will not be made available.
