OREGON, OH. -- The old Boy Scouts motto “Be Prepared”   is what the Oregon Police Department and Kmart had in mind for Oregon City Schools.

The retailer recently donated 166 five-quart buckets as part of a school safety program, initiated by Oregon Police, Alert-Lockdown-Inform-Counter-Evacuate (ALICE).  The buckets will hold classroom safety and medical equipment in the event an intruder breaks in.

Employees of Kmart raised $496.34 for the buckets through bake sales, paying to wear jeans on certain days, and holding a pot luck dinner.
