The Toledo Zoo held a celebration of the aquarium before it closes for renovations on October 1, 2012.

The party was held in the summer, when people were coming to the zoo.

The aquarium has been established since 1939 and renovations for its old age. The exterior will remain relatively unchanged, but the inside will change.

Jay Hemdal, curator of fish and invertebrates at the Toledo Zoo described how the new interior will look.

"There is going to be a touch tank where you can touch sharks and sting rays as well as a diver that goes into the tank and feeds the fish and taks to the audience. A lot more interactivity."
