2 elderly drivers, passenger hurt in S.R. 269 crash

DANBURY TWP. -- Three senior citizens were taken to a Toledo hospital by Life Flight after a crash on State Route 269 near Von Glahn Road on Sunday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 78-year-old Harold Kagy of Bloomdale was driving north on S.R. 269 when he was hit head-on by a Chevrolet Lumina that crossed left of center on the roadway.

Kagy and his 75-year-old wife, Peggy, suffered serious injuries and their vehicle sustained heavy damage to the right front of the vehicle during the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle, 85-year-old William Hirt of Danbury Township, also suffered serious injury after his vehicle rolled off the east side of the road into a ditch during the crash.

Highway patrol troopers report all occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and that the investigation is ongoing.
