UPDATE: More than 2,000 residents are still affected by a power outage in Lucas County as of Thursday afternoon. Toledo Edison crews are working to restore power after a transformer malfunctioned just after 5 a.m.

ORIGINAL STORY: More than 8,400 Lucas County residents are without power Thursday morning due to a blown transformer near Talmadge Road, according to a FirstEnergy representative.

Power should be restored by lunchtime, the spokeswoman told WNWO.

A previous version of this story inaccurately identified the storms as the cause of the power outage. Toledo Edison crews are investigating now whether or not the storms damaged the transformer.
