HOLLAND -- After a three-year tug-of-war between local advocates and Ohio legislators, a state panel decided to move the McCord Road underpass project up by six years.

The Blade reports that the project gained new attention after two Springfield High School students were hit by a train while crossing the tracks on their way to school in 2009.

Although still 11 years away, the project will now begin in 2023 instead of 2029.

The estimated cost is more than $41 million.
