MORENCI -- A Lenawee County father serving prison time for his role in the disappearance of his three sons will not have his appeal heard.

The Michigan Court of Appeals denied John Skelton's appeal for lack of merit.

Skelton was challenging the maximum sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison he received after pleading guilty last year to unlawful imprisonment.

His three sons, Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton were last seen at their father's home in Morenci on Thanksgiving 2010. His estranged wife had custody of the boys.

Police have been treating the case as a homicide.  John Skelton claims he gave the boys to an organization to protect them.,
