TOLEDO -- A Toledo man accused of murdering a Springfield Township couple in January 2011 is still trying to get the death penalty off the table.
22-year-old Cameo Pettaway's lawyers have filed another motion asking the judge to dismiss the death penalty specifications because they claim their client is mentally disabled.
Pettaway and 24-year-old Samuel Williams are charged with killing Lasa Straub and Johnny Clarke inside Straub's parents home on January 3, 2011.
Police say the victims were bound, gagged and then asphyxiated.
Both men have trial dates set for July 17.
