TOLEDO -- One of the nation's largest grocery store chains is offering drivers a good deal this summer.

Kroger is going to double the maximum fuel points that can be redeemed for a discount.

Customers already earny 100 fuel points for every $100 in groceries purchashed.

Now you can use up to 2,000 at Kroger gas stations for up to a $2 a gallon savings.

The Kroger "Hot Savings on Fuel, All Summer Long" promotion begins Sunday and ends September 30.

Meanwhile, unlike most holiday weekends, gas prices are actually going down.

The national average for a gallon of unleaded is $3.67.

That's good news for the more than 34 million people expected to travel more than 50 miles during the Memorial Day weekend.
