TOLEDO -- A former worker at a West Toledo CVhurch is accused of stealing more than a half million dollars from the parish.
61-year-old Patricia Stanz was employed at GESU as the parish business manager from August 2007 to August 2011.
According to court documents, investigators say Stanz created and signed 97 checks for about $295,000 and then cashed them from the parish account.
Police say say she used a parish issued credit card that she used to take out more than $230,000 in cash advances and purchases.
If convicted, Stanz could be sentenced to 25 years in prison.
GESU says despite the loss of more than $500,000 the parish's financial obligations were met.
