TOLEDO -- After three decades of waiting, the city of Toledo plans to breathe new life into the former Toledo Edison steam plant.

The $16 million plan will turn the plant into a YMCA, University of Toledo Health Clinic and 70 apartments for low income families and seniors.

The new YMCA will replace the current center located on Summit Street.

Crews will begin breaking ground in July and complete construction by late 2013.
