TOLEDO -- A Toledo couple suspected of placing the body of an infant in a freezer and leaving it there after they moved out of the house faced a judge in Toledo Municipal Court Monday morning.

Kenishia L Pruitt, 20, and Antonio M Cervantes, 18, are charged with one count each of endangering children, a second degree felony. Both appeared in Toledo Municipal Court for arraignment. Bond was set at $1 million each and the judge granted them public defenders. Police were summoned to 116 Paine St. in east Toledo Saturday at approximately 8:00 p.m., to respond to a call of a dead infant found dead in a freezer. The owner of the home found the body while he was cleaning out the home which Pruitt and Cervantes had rented from him.

According to the affidavit filed with the court, the arresting officer alleges that the couple, "caused serious physical harm to a newborn infant. The infant that was found in the freezer at 116 Paine St., dead and frozen solid."

Police say the infant appeared to have been a full term birth. The affidavit goes on to indicate that Ms. Pruitt was believed by family members to have been pregnant in 2011 with no reported birth.

The couple will be back in court on April 23. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
