The Wood County Sheriff's Office is investigating a string of road sign robberies.

Since Saturday night, around 50 road signs have gone missing from an area just north of Bowling Green to Northwood, including Middleton, Webster, Freedom, Perrysburg and Troy townships.

Most of the stolen property consists of road name signs, but several load limit, state route and construction signs are also missing.

Investigators suspect the signs were taken as a prank and is requesting that family members and neighbors contact the office if they see any of the stolen property. The signs are not only expensive to make, but they will also require many hours of labor to replace.

No traffic control signs were taken, but Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn is asking motorists to be very careful in case of missing stop signs.
