TOLEDO -- Kile Smith, now 22 years old and living in Elmore, says the memories of being bullied when he was a student at Woodward High School are still fresh in his mind.

"Being called racist slurs and getting beaten up in school," he said.

Smith has younger relatives who attend Toledo Public Schools who are being bullied, and for that reason, he felt compelled to address the school board in its weekly meeting.

"I have family who are calling me and saying that they are being bullied and that nothing is being done about it so I just wanted to come tonight to raise my issues and concerns," he said.

But School Board President Lisa Sobecki says bullying is not a huge problem in the district.  "There is not a big outcry from parents and students that there is a bullying situation in our district," she said.
