WAUSEON -- The 13-year-old boy shot in the chest at a home on Howard Avenue died Wednesday morning.

Wauseon Exempted Village Schools Superintendent Mark Robinson confirmed to WNWO that the victim was a student at Wauseon Middle School named Michael Schwartz.

The district sent two alerts to parents about the shooting this morning and said grief counseling would be available for students.

Dispatch said they received a call about a drive-by shooting just before 7 a.m. But police later determined the shooting took place inside 444 Howard Avenue.

The victim was found unconcious and transported by Life Flight to Fulton County Health Center. He was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Police will not release any further details until the investigation at the crime scene is complete. At a morning press conference, however, an officer said the department had two juvenile suspects in custody.

The shooting took place only eight blocks away from Wauseon High School.
