TOLEDO -- A Sylvania bicyclist was critically injured Tuesday evening when he was hit by a vehicle while riding through a red light.

Brandon Allen, 33, was riding northbound on Bush Street when he ran the light at Greenbelt Parkway. An eastbound vehicle in the curb lane braked and honked her horn to warn Allen, but he did not stop.

The bicyclist was then struck by a vehicle driven by Christopher Hodge, 37, who was unable to see him. Allen was ejected from the bike on impact and landed in the median.

Lucas County Life Squad transported Allen to Mercy St. Vincent trauma center with critical injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
