FINDLAY, OH -- Cooper Tire union workers vote to approve their labor agreement ending months-long lockout.

United Steelworkers Local 207L, and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company management reachd a tentative agreement Thursday; and voted Monday afternoon in favor of the agreement. Local 207L confirmed the vote of 627 for and 321 against the agreement.

The Workers of the Findlay Plant were locked out in late November. Local 207L rejected a contract offer over proposed pay cuts and an increase in health care costs. Cooper tire says the newly approved deal addressed the union concerns and allows the company to maintain competitive productivity.

Findlay Mayor Lydia Mihalik was confident that an agreement would be reached.

“Today our community can rest peacefully knowing that the more than 1,000 workers will return to work in due time. “ Mayor Lydia Mihalik said.
