Naming a child can be a daunting task.  So much so that some parents resort to extreme measures to come up with something unique and special.

But one Illinois family decided to let “The Social Network” have the ultimate say.

According to an article in the Chicago Tribune, Dave and Lindsey Meske, of Crystal Lake, Illinois couldn't were having a hard time coming up with a name for their second daughter…so they took a poll on Facebook asking people to choose from four names: McKenna, Addilyne, Madelyn and Emily.

Madelyn drew 1,310 votes, so that's what they named the 7-pound, 14-ounce girl was named when she was born on January 30th.

"Madelyn won, and I'm happy about it," father Dave told the Tribune.

When they found out they were pregnant last September, they had settled on the name “Cooper” if it turned out to be a boy.  When they found out the baby would be a girl…they were stumped for a name.  And that’s when they turned to Facebook.

"Lindsey (the mother) had more friends and family on Facebook, so I had to even the playing field," Dave Meske, 27, explained.

So he opened the poll to the entire Facebook community and dubbed the poll "Name My Child."

More than 4,200 people from as far away as Germany, New Zealand and Iceland cast votes.

Madelyn came in first, followed by Emily with 1,265 votes. McKenna, the 24-year-old mother's favorite, garnered 938 votes and Addilyne came in last with 687 votes.

Would you let family, even strangers, on Facebook decide the name of your child?
