TOLEDO -- Teenager Robert Jobe has learned his punishment for killing Toledo police detective Keith Dressel.

Judge Charles J. Doneghy sentenced Jobe to 18 years to life in prison Friday afternoon.

Jobe received 15 years to life in prison for the murder of Keith Dressel.  He received another 3 years for a gun specification.  A parole board will determine how long Jobe will remain behind bars. Jobe will serve the 3 year sentence first.  He will be eligible for parole after serving his 15 year sentence.

The 15-year-old was convicted, on November 9, of murdering Detective Dressel in February.  Jobe avoided a mandatory life sentence when the jury acquitted him on aggravated murder charges.

Before Judge Doneghy handed down the sentence, Jobe offered his apologies to the court and Doneghy.  Danielle Dressel, the slain detective's widow, also spoke to the court.

Larraine Dressel, Keith's mother, addressed the courtroom, describing Jobe as a "lifeless person who took the life" of her son.

The murder was the first killing of a Toledo police officer in the line of duty since 1970.
