Taco Bell unveils breakfast menu

Taco Bell lovers can now “think outside of the bun” for breakfast.
Fast-food chain Taco Bell is adding a breakfast menu to more than 800 restaurants around the nation. The Mexican-style menu will feature burritos stuffed with eggs and either sausage, bacon or steak; hash browns; hot or iced coffee; and orange juice. Prices will range from .99 cents to $2.79.
Taco Bell’s Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer Brain Niccol says if the launch goes as expected, the chain hopes its breakfast burritos will be on store menus across the nationwide by the start of 2014.
The restaurant known for catering to the “4th meal” decided to roll out the new menu after breakfast and snack foods accounted for virtually all of the industry’s growth in the past five years, according to research firm NDP Group. The big rollout adds to the scramble among fast food heavyweights competing for morning customers.
Some Taco Bells around the nation are already open around the clock, but for those who aren’t, the restaurant will be opening their doors and drive thru’s an hour early. For most that will mean 8 or 9 a.m. opening with breakfast ending at 11 a.m.
The big unveil Thursday is taking place in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, and a few stores in Texas, Oklahoma, and the Buckeye State.
