OTTAWA -- A man who spent two decades on Ohio's death row has pleaded not guilty to threatening a Putnam County judge who prosecuted his original case.

47-year-old Ken Richey appeared in court Wednesday on charges of retaliation and violating a civil protection order.  Richey was ordered held without bond and will face trial in May.

Authorities say Richey left a threatening voice mail at the courthouse in Ottawa.  That's the same courthouse where 25 years ago he was sentenced to death for setting a fire that killed a toddler.

He was on death row until four years ago when he was released after a federal court overturned his sentence.

Richey went back to his native Scotland but recently moved to Mississippi where he was arrested last week.
