Monroe police still on hunt for Sunoco armed robbery suspect

MONROE, MICH. -- Monroe County Deputy Sheriff's were dispatched to a Sunoco Gas Station Monday morning in response to an armed robbery.

Deputies arrived on scene after 5 a.m. and learned that a white male subject entered the venue armed with a handgun and demanded the clerks relinquish all of the money from the cash register.

The clerks complied and the suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash. Deputy Sheriff's, K-9 units from the Sheriff's Office as well as the Michigan State Police and the Sheriff's Office helicopter searched the area for the suspect. At this time, the suspect remains at large.

The suspect is described as a white male, early to mid 60s years of age with a gray stubble beard, 5'8" to 5'9" and 200-215 pounds. The suspect was wearing black rimmed sunglasses, a black or dark coat having a hood, a gray or black winter cap and blue jeans.

No photographs or surveillance camera video footage is available at this time.

The incident is under investigation by Monroe County Sheriff's Office Detective Jeffrey Smith. Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau 734-240-7530.
