COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Supreme Court upheld convictions against a former Toledo man put on trial for child rape and pornography found on his computer hard drive on Tuesday.
Dennis Gould's attorney argued that the police searched his hard drive without a warrant and violated his constitutional rights.
But the court unanimously ruled that Gould gave up his expectations for privacy in 2006 when he disappeared and left all his belongings behind.
Toledo police said they attempted to contact Gould multiple times after his mother turned the hard drive over to authorities. After months, they searched the computer and found sexually explicit photos of a 7-year-old girl.
Gould was convicted in 2008 and is serving 13 years to life in prison.
