KENDALLVILLE, IND. (AP) -- Northeastern Indiana police say 41 iPads have been stolen from a Kendallville elementary over the past two weeks.

The News-Sun of Kendallville reports the iPad2 tablets valued at between $500 and $800 each were stolen from South Side Elementary School during a break-in this week and one in late December.

Kendallville Police Chief Rob Wiley says the battery chargers for the iPads students in grades 3 and 4 received last fall were also taken.

East Noble school officials are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

District officials said Thursday in a statement that, "many students have created personalized writing assignments, videos and pictures that are now gone."
