TOLEDO -- District 2 Toledo city councilman Mike Collins was not surprised when on Tuesday Mayor Mike Bell fired Department of Neighborhoods Director Kattie Bond and Housing Commissioner Mike Badik. The firings came as the administration investigates allegations of poor oversight and contract bid-rigging.  "We are dealing with over $27 million in federal funds and so you have got to make sure your "i's" are dotted and your "t's" are crossed," Mr. Collins said.

The hammer dropped late Wednesday afternoon on a third Department of Neighborhoods employee.  Jody Prude, who had been placed on administrative leave from her position as Housing Manager, was informed that she is facing a $13,000 pay cut and relocation to another department within the administration.  A hearing was also held for Rehab Specialist Toni Thomas but no action was taken.
