TOLEDO -- The City of Toledo has issued a scam alert for the elderly.

Someone is calling elderly Toledo Water and Sewer customers claiming they could get a reward of up to $750,000  for being a good paying customer.  The caller says all that needs to be done to cash in is to Western Union nearly $500.

Toledo says it's a scam.  It says the Public Utilities Department does not offer cash sweepstakes and will not contact customers unless they are past due on payments.  Also the city doesn't accept Western Union payments.

If you've been contacted by the con artist call TPD at 419-245-3142.
