Minivan mows down bicyclist on SR 269

BELLEVUE, OHIO -- A bicyclist remains hospitalized after she was struck by a minivan just north of Bellevue around 7 p.m. on Monday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 44-year-old Judith Daiello was riding her bike--which was equipped with both front and rear reflectors--southbound on SR 269. A 2000 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan driven by Garrett Timmons, 75, suddenly hit the bike and ejected Daiello.

The bicycle went off the right side of the road and struck a ditch. The rider came to rest in the ditch beside the bike.

Daiello was LifeFlighted to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo and her current condition was not released. Timmons was not injured.

The patrol said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and no charges have been filed at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
