FINLDAY (AP) -- Union workers have rejected a new contract with Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. by 2-1.

The Courier reports the tentative agreement was reached last week by United Steelworkers of America negotiators and the company, based in Findlay in northwest Ohio.

Sunday's vote was 606 against, 305 in favor of the three-year deal.

Terms of the contract have not been released. But union local President Rod Nelson says it would have workers "going backwards" at a time when Cooper is paying big bonuses to executives.

The union's old contract that expired on Oct. 31 included $30 million in pay and benefits concessions.
