Study: Coffee craze cuts cancer risk

Dieticians and researchers are often at odds about the health benefits of your morning cup of joe, but a new study shows regular coffee drinkers have a lower risk for endometrial cancer.

Researchers combined data from nearly 70,000 women over a 26 year period and found those who drank four or more cups a days had a 25 percent reduced risk for developing the cancer in the lining of their uterus.

The study doesn't completely reveal how drinking coffee combats cancer, but caffeine is only one part of the mystery because studies on decaf coffee also yielded positive results.

"There are estimated to be over a couple thousand different components in coffee, many of which are antioxidants," Doctor Donald Hensrud of the Mayo Clinic told Health.com.

Even still, researchers urge women not to go crazy with their coffee intake due to a number of potential side effects, including insomnia, heart palpitations and irritability.
