TOLEDO -- A 25-year-old man is dead after a robbery shootout at Express Carryout in North Toledo around 9:45 a.m. Monday.

Sargent Joe Heffernan told WNWO Lamar Allen and another suspect intended to rob the business and at least one of them was armed with a weapon. Allen was killed during the shooting.

"It appears to be right now there was an exchange gunfire between the employee and at least one, if not both of the suspects," Sgt. Heffernan said.

The other suspect ran out the door down Page Street toward Mulberry Street and remains at large.
