TOLEDO -- The next time you go to the store, you will probably be greeted by a familiar sound. The ringing of the bells from Salvation Army volunteers.
Thursday, The Salvation Army of Toledo kicked off its 2011 Red Kettle Campaign, setting this year's goal at $550,000.
That's $30,000 more than last year's goal but the extra money is needed given an increase in families seeking help. Last year The Salvation Army raised $540,000.
The red kettles will be at 59 locations in the greater Toledo area.
You can volunteer to be a bell ringer by calling 419-241-1138.
