EXETER TWP. -- The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Steffas Road, north of Heiss Road, in Exeter Township.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Douglas W. Baltrip, age 43, of Maybee, Mich. was operating a 2005 Ford F-250 pick-up truck northbound on Steffas Road, north of Heiss Road. For unknown reasons, Baltrip's vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway, where it struck a culvert and overturned one time before coming to rest its roof in a farm field.

Baltrip, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office-Traffic Services Division along with Deputies Doug Bender and David Moore of the CARs division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7551 or 734-240-7560.
