Urban Active will hold a breast cancer boot camp fundraiser on October 22nd at 10 a.m. at all 36 locations. The event is in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The boot camp is free and open to the public.

The boot camp focuses on core stability, time resistance training and aerobic intervals. These exercises are geared toward improving mood, boosting self confidence and reducing fatigue.

Participants can make a $25 donation to cancer research and receive a complimentary shirt and pink silicone bracelet. If you are not an Urban Active member you will also get access to the gym for one month at no charge.

Urban Active trainers will be on hand to tips on form and function of particular exercises.

According to the American Cancer Society, not only is exercise safe during cancer treatment it helps patients stay fit and get stronger.

A study posted on the Susan G Komen for the cure website says, "women who get regular physical activity may have a lower risk of breast cancer. Although not all studies show this benefit, when the evidence is looked at as a whole, regular exercise appears to lower breast cancer risk by about 20 percent. This benefit is seen most clearly in postmenopausal women."
