DETROIT, MI --

General Motors Wednesday announced a new all-electric car to be sold in the United States.

The Chevrolet Spark battery-powered vehicle will make it's United States debut in 2013. A current gas-powered version of the Spark is available in overseas markets and will be made available to the United States in 2012.

The ergonomics resembles the Chevrolet Aveo with a short snout, tall body, slick sides and a big rear for luggage space. The interior eye candy will draw attention to the dashboard inspired by motorcycle mechanisms.

Spark E-V will compete with Nissan Motor Co Ltd’s Leaf small electric vehicle.
