Springfield murder suspect held on $5 million bond

SYLVANIA -- The man sheriff's deputies say participated in the murder of a young Springfield couple made his first appearance in court today.

Cameo Pettaway, 24, of Toledo appeared In Sylvania Municipal Court charged with two counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated burglary. He was assigned counsel and will appear Wednesday at 10 a.m. to enter pleas to the charges.

Meanwhile, Pettaway remains incarcerated in the Lucas County Jail. His bond was set at $5 million.

Pettaway is charged with the murders of Lisa Straub, 20, and Johnny Clarke, 21, both of Springfield Twp. Both were found dead at the Straub residence on Aug. 31. An autopsy revealed both had died of asphyxiation.

A statement issued by Lucas County Sheriff James Telb Monday following the arrests indicated more arrests may be forthcoming.
