TOLEDO -- Kevin Wolever, the son of Toledo's former fire chief, was formally arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court on Monday.  The 32-year-old fire inspector for the city of Toledo has been charged with shooting into an East Toledo fire station on Saturday night.  A firefighter was slightly injured when a bullet ricocheted off of a wall and hit him in the chin.  Shortly after the shooting Wolever was spotted by Toledo police and arrested.  At the time of his arrest Wolever was wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a handgun and ammunition.

While Wolever is a suspect in the other attacks on city fire stations last week he has only been charged with the shooting at the Starr Avenue station on Saturday night.  Wolever made no statement to police, immediately asserting his right to speak to an attorney.

Wolever was hired in August 2008 as a fire inspector for the city of Toledo, a job that paid him roughly $20 hr.  Wolever requested medical leave in July and just last week was placed on paid administrative leave.  City officials declined to explain the circumstances surrounding the administrative leave.  In August Wolever  was switched from full time to part time.

On Monday police executed a search warrant at Wolever's property requiring the assistance of the bomb squad to complete the search. He will appear in court again next week.
