TOLEDO -- The Washington Local Schools board of education unanimously approved tax abatements for the expansion of the Chrysler North Assembly Plant at their monthly meeting Wednesday evening.

The vote came just one day after Toledo Public Schools board approved a tax abatement for their district.

The tax deal affords Washington Local Schools an additional $23,000 a year in property tax. Toledo Public Schools will receive an additional $45,000.

The approval of both school districts was necessary because Chrysler's North Assembly Plant which Chrysler indicates in may expand, straddles the district line.

While the school districts have approved proposed tax abatements and the city of Toledo has made an offer to assist with tax abatements, cash assistance, and infrastructure improvements, negotiations for a state incentive package continue.
