TOLEDO -- A four month old baby is clinging to life in a pediatric ICU unit while his father sits in jail, awaiting trial for causing the injuries.
According to an affidavit filed in Toledo Municipal Court by Toledo police, Jonathan Dominguez squeezed and shook his four month old child with such force as to break the child's ribs, bruise the child's back and cause massive bleeding on the brain. The incident occurred Sunday evening.
According to the affidavit, the child underwent emergency surgery and was admitted to the pediatric ICU in critical condition.
Dominguez was charged with felonious assault victim seriously harmed. He appeared in Toledo Municipal Court Monday for arraignment. Bond was set at $500,000 and he was assigned a public defender.
Domingeuz remains incarcerated in the Lucas County Jail.
