LEBANON, OHIO (AP) -- A former high school teacher is claiming insanity as she faces trial on 16 counts of sexual battery involving students in southwest Ohio.

Thirty-three-year-old Stacy Schuler's attorneys filed a one-sentence motion this week in Warren County court in Lebanon  stating that she is not guilty by reason of insanity.

The Middletown Journal reports that defense attorney Charlie Rittgers says the motion to change Schuler's plea reflects what he believes to be true.

County Prosecutor David Fornshell said Wednesday he thinks the plea change is interesting because Schuler earlier denied that the alleged offenses occurred.

Schuler resigned as health and gym teacher at Mason High School after her arrest this year. The sexual battery charges allegedly involve several teenage boys.

Schuler's trial is scheduled to start Aug. 8.

If convicted what do you think would be an appropriate sentence?  Post your comments below.
