DETROIT -- The Morenci, Michigan man whose three young sons have been missing since Thanksgiving still maintains the boys are in the custody of members of an underground sanctuary group.

John Skelton talked about the boys and the case in a series of interviews with the Detroit Free Press at the Lenawee County jail. Skelton insisted he didn't know the whereabouts of 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner and won't until he's released.

Skelton says he wouldn't hurt his sons and only has the first names of the people who took them.

Police in the town near the Ohio boundary are treating the case as a homicide investigation. They say Skelton is telling a variation of a tale authorities have already heard.

The 39-year-old is charged with kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment, and is jailed on $90 million bond. He has pleaded not guilty.

Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks has said that despite a continuous effort to find the young Skelton brothers continues, the outcome doesn't look good. "My desire is to retain hope," Weeks said just days after the boys went missing. "The information we have does not indicate that this will have a positive outcome."

A reward for information leading to the boys is now at $60,000.

If you have any information call the Morenci Police Department at 517-458-7104.
