WOODVILLE TWP, OH -- An Ohio teenager is in the hospital after an ATV accident.

The incident occurred on TR 121 in Woodville Twp. 16-year-old Joseph Lee Paul from Helena, Oh was riding with his father on separate ATVs. According to his father, Paul swerved to avoid hitting a deer, rolled several times and was ejected from the vehicle.

Paul was airlifted to St. Vincent’s Hospital. Paul was wearing a helmet. Authorities don’t believe alcohol to be a factor and no charges have been filed.

The Fremont Ohio State Highway Patrol tells WNWO that ATVs are designed for off-road use. Operators of ATV’s should take caution while driving on paved roads and may only drive on roads if the ATV has the proper safety equipment and registration.
