A man from Vernal, Utah recently paid a $25 bill a medical clinic said he owed with 2,500 pennies...and was cited by police for doing so.

Last month, Jason West went to the Basin Clinic in Vernal prepared to dispute an outstanding bill, according to Assistant Vernal Police Chief Keith Campbell. West, 38, apparently did not believe he owed the clinic the $25 it said he did.

West, apparently frustrated with the dispute, then asked the receptionist if they accepted payments in cash.  When told they did, West proceeded to dump the 2,500 pennies on the counter...many of which ended up on the floor...and demanded that the receptionist count the pennies to make sure it was all there.

According the the Desert News, the incident upset clinic staff who told West they were calling the police.  He left, but was found by police a short time later...and assistant Police Chief Keith Cambell said that West's behavior served "no legitimate purpose."  West was issued a citation for disorderly conduct, an infraction, which carries a potential fine of $140.

The case will be heard in the Vernal City Justice Court.

Have been that frustrated with an office or company trying to collect money that you say you don't owe them?  Did this guy go too far?  Should he have been cited?  Would you be brave enough to dump 2,500 pennies on the counter and call it a day?
