TOLEDO -- It looks like Toledo's new $300 million casino will be the first in the state to open.  NBC 24 caught up with the general manager of the Hollywood Casino Monday.

Richard St. Jean is a long time gaming executive.  He says Toledo's project remains months ahead of Penn National's Columbus project which is mired in lawsuits.

St. Jean says construction remains on schedule and the casino is nearly halfway complete. He expects it to open sometime in the first half of 2012. He got to see the site first hand Monday and liked what he saw.

There will be about 2,000 slot machines, more than 50 table games and a poker room along with several restaurants.

The casino is expected to generate hundreds of permanent jobs.

Do you think the casino will have a positive or negative effect on Toledo's economy?  Will you visit the casino?  If not, why not?  Post your comments below.
