SYLVANIA -- Residents in an apartment complex in Sylvania had to be evacuated from their homes because of a report of an elderly resident barricading himself inside his apartment with a gun. Police were called out to the Sylvania Gardens apartment complex on Maplewood Avenue around 6 p.m.
Police safely evacuated the residents of the complex and took them to a nearby fire station. Neighbors tell NBC 24 that the man barricading himself inside his home is in his 80's. One neighbor says that the man has been exhibiting erratic behavior in recent weeks and he told one of his neighbors that he wanted to die.
